Made from vines grown on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius near Naples, wine Lacryma Christi takes its name from the ancient story told by John Milton in "Paradise Lost," which tells of when Lucifer and the angels were expelled from Heaven .Just when Lucifer was cast , he grabbed a piece of paradise and, falling, it brought with it; dropped it on the coast of Italy at the foot of Vesuvius, where framed the Bay of Naples. Seeing this loss, the story goes, Jesus wept and tears glistened in those slopes heavenly. In the place where they fell, the vines grew miraculously, becoming the vineyards from which comes the Lacryma Christi.
